Grow Hope. Grow Healing.

Grow Children’s.

Your investment will help the new WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital and Women’s Pavilion journey toward becoming the only West Virginia’s only Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center.

This fully integrated facility will provide specialized, high-level care in areas such as comprehensive heart, pulmonary, neuro, cancer, orthopedic, dental, craniomaxillofacial, ENT, ophthalmology, gastrointestinal, urology, surgical, and trauma.

The 150-bed, nine-story tower adjacent to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, is scheduled to be completed in early 2021.

What is the “I Am A Mountaineer” Fundraising Initiative for Children’s Hospital?

We are bringing legacy Mountaineer athletes together to build the top floor of the new WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital tower at Ruby Memorial Hospital. This floor will resemble a locker room and provide care and support to the patients and their families.

How much money needs to be raised?

$2,000,000 in gifts or pledges by December 31, 2021.

How much has been raised to date?

Approximately $650,000

How will my gift be recognized?

Multiple naming opportunities are available, as well as a WVU Athletic community effort. There will be signage on rooms/areas/lockers reflecting the donor and, if appropriate, their jersey or sport memorabilia. In addition, there will be donor walls with athlete’s signatures on the I Am A Mountaineer Floor. Each athlete who donates a minimum of $1,000 or more through a pledge or gift will have an opportunity to sign a wall reflecting their gift range.

How can I donate?

You can make a one-time donation, a multi-year pledge, IRA rollover, annuity or a monthly, recurring check/credit card payment. You may also choose to use payroll deduction if employed by the University or WVU Medicine.

Is there a video of what the new WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital will look like?

Visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aAzcaFX1u4#action=share or search “Youtube WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.” The “I Am A Mountaineer” floor is displayed around the 1:03 mark.

Can anyone contribute to the “I Am A Mountaineer” floor campaign?

We hope to fully fund the floor with donations from former athletes. Others will have an opportunity to name spaces or support the children’s and women’s tower through the campaign. Contact Jeff Hostetler or the development team at 304.598.4346.

If I am not a former WVU athlete but wish to support the WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital Campaign?

You can call 304.598.4346 or visit https://wvumedicine.org/growchildrens/ or send a check to WVU Medicine Children’s Development Office, PO Box 8200, Morgantown, WV 26506. There are multiple naming opportunities at varying levels. All funds will be used to support the $35,000,000 needed to build the new tower.

How much must WVU Medicine’s Children’s raise for the new building?

In addition to the $50 million urgently needed to build our new hospital, we seek $10 million in philanthropic support to enhance the important programmatic work of WVU Medicine Children’s.
